A Legacy of Integrity in Estate Liquidation
In 1968, Ruth McLeod entered the real estate business with Guion Gregg Realtors, in their Richardson office. Ruth, being a real estate broker, visualized the rapid growth to the north and soon opened her own office in downtown Plano in 1969. As the growth continued to the north, her office was involved in selling all types of properties: new and pre-owned homes, land, farms, investments, and commercial property.
Expanding Into Corporate Property Liquidation
In the early 1970s, Ruth became associated with Great Southwest Life Insurance and its holding company, Corporation of Great Southwest. McLeod Realtors acted as their broker and was the most successful in liquidating many of their properties and represented the firm in many property acquisitions.
A Lifelong Passion for Antiques and Collectibles
As a hobby, Ruth had always had a fascination and interest in antiques, and in the late 1970s, Ruth, along with an interior decorator/antique dealer, Helen Timmons, opened an antique shop in north Dallas. Over the years, with all of her years of experience in real estate, Ruth saw the need for estate sales and estate liquidations.
The Birth of Estate Liquidators Dallas
In 1981, after receiving a contract on the old Ray Hubbard home on Lakewood Boulevard in Dallas (a four-story mansion on four acres), the owners commissioned Ruth and her associates to conduct an estate sale of the personal belongings. Soon thereafter the original Estate Liquidators was formed, being one of the first professional estate liquidation companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
